Technology Wednesday was held on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. Teachers were offered a list of classes to choose from, each one lasting approximately two hours.

The library department offered a workshop on a variety of Web 2.0 technologies that would be helpful to teachers.  Twenty teachers signed up for this workshop.

Attached is the Powerpoint that was used to guide the presentation.

Reflections

Workshops are difficult for me.  I have high expectations for myself and I want each and every person in the class to LOVE what I show them.  I knew I didn't want a workshop where I just tell them about resources and technologies.  I wanted them to TRY things.  That was difficult because of the mixed abilities of the group.  There were some teachers in the room that didn't know that Internet Explorer had bookmarks or how to open a new tab.  Others were bored by my explaining those two items.  I brought so many things with me that there wasn't enough time to go through everything.  That's why workshops on this topic are usually 6 hours in length. One teacher in the group was so excited that I am showing two items again at their next department meeting.  In this way, I will slowly get the word out.

Update:  Upon invitation from one of the participants, I had 20 minutes to show the spec ed department four 2.0 tools.  I choose the following four: wordle, tagxedo, glogster, ad prezi.  I heard very positive feedback.  I encouraged the teachers to individually talk to me about incorporating the tools into their lessons.
